Unlike ABS, polylactic acid (PLA) is biodegradable due to its production from renewable raw materials such as corn starch. PLA exhibits a low shrinkage rate during the 3D printing process, which means there is no need to heat the print bed. The suitable printing temperature range for PLA is between 190°C and 230°C. Although PLA has a high cooling and hardening rate, which adds some difficulty to processing, this material is widely used in FDM 3D printers and usually appears translucent, offering a variety of color options. It is important to note that PLA may be damaged and discolored when it comes into contact with water, so it must be kept dry during handling and storage.
Features: Biodegradable, environmentally friendly, easy to print, smooth surface.
Applicability: Suitable for making prototypes and decorative items, not suitable for high-temperature or high-strength requirements.
